Founded in 1945 as a family-run business on 18 hectares in Sion, in the heart of the Gers – the emblematic land of Armagnac – the Domaine «à Lafitte» is led by the Bachos family, passionate winegrowers who produce artisanal and authentic Bas Armagnac, true to the purest traditions.
The unique terroir, characterised by sandy and clay-limestone soils, imparts optimal acidity to the base wines, ideal for distillation, resulting in fine, balanced and long-lived spirits. From the outset, the Domaine has specialised exclusively in Vintaged Bas-Armagnac millésimes, offering a vast collection of vintages that capture the distinct personality of each harvest.
This impressive range represents the beating heart of the Domaine: dozens of millésimes, aged from 20 to over 50 years, stand out for their complex aromas of patisserie (vanilla, brioche), dried fruit (figs, plums), sweet honey notes or spicy ones, in balances ranging from structured power to vibrant lightness. Each bottle tells a unique story of the Gers, revealing the aromatic evolution specific to its vintage.
The millésimes are born from the distillation of wines from Baco Blanc grapes – chosen for the local red sands, which bring smoothness, balance and mature fruit aromas after long ageing – and Ugni Blanc, ideal for freshness and complexity in young Armagnacs, without overpowering their organoleptic profile. Traditional distillation in discontinuous stills, combined with prolonged ageing in oak wood, ensures superior quality and optimal sensory evolution. Each bottle, produced in limited quantities, is hand-sealed with wax and the Bachos seal, a symbol of a family heritage that unites exceptional terroir, tradition and vinous rigour.
In 2026, the Domaine «à Lafitte» continues to stand out for this unrepeatable uniqueness, offering enthusiasts an unforgettable vinous journey through the great variety of its millésimes.
