Since 1702, Jacques Ferrand, the family’s founder, has distilled and masterfully refined the products of his vineyards in the heart of the Cognac region. To this day, his heirs perpetuate this centuries-old tradition of “bouilleurs de cru”, passing down a unique heritage through twelve generations.
In the early 1970s, Pierre Ferrand founded the Marquis de Gensac brand and promoted the image of cru distillers’ cognacs on the international stage, elevating their worldwide prestige.
Today, Pablo Ferrand leads the company with absolute dedication, producing only aged and prestigious cognacs in Segonzac, in the heart of Grande Champagne 1er Cru, the premier cru of the Cognac region. He personally oversees every stage—from hand-harvesting to grape storage, right up to new plantings—ensuring total control over quality.
The 8.5 hectares of Ugni Blanc in the heart of Segonzac are dedicated exclusively to distilling Marquis de Gensac Grande Champagne 1er Cru Cognacs. Every stage, from harvesting to bottling, takes place in a single cellar using artisanal methods: distillation in discontinuous copper pot stills (18 and 25 hl), gentle heating on fine lees, manual olfactory cuts, and ageing in 400-500 litre Limousin oak casks.
These Grande Champagne cognacs stand out for their remarkable smoothness, velvety texture, and vivid fruity notes, with complex aromas of citrus, flowers, almond, dried fruit, honey, and sweet spices. They are internationally awarded for their extraordinary quality and represent the pride of Pablo Ferrand and the family, embodying the essence of Cognac’s finest cru.
