Poggio Antico

Founded in 1976, Poggio Antico is one of the most prestigious wineries in Montalcino, renowned for producing high-quality wines in limited quantities. Since 2017, following a change in ownership and the adoption of an innovative scientific approach, the estate has revitalised its winemaking tradition with a team of experts and outstanding collaborations.

Located on the highest hill of Montalcino, Poggio Antico covers 200 hectares at an altitude between 500 and 620 metres, including 37 hectares of vineyards and 150 hectares of natural woodland. The winery promotes sustainable viticulture practices, protecting soil health and local biodiversity, thanks to soils rich in galestro, limestone, and stony elements, typical of Montalcino’s unique terroir.

Poggio Antico’s vineyards are divided into 15 distinct parcels, harvested and vinified separately to highlight the unique traits of each site. The balance of altitude, exposure, constant winds, and soil diversity helps create elegant, fresh, and long-lived wines that authentically express Montalcino’s terroir. Selective harvesting and meticulous ageing produce wines that embody the essence of the land and enjoy international acclaim.
