Cafaggio

Cafaggio is a historic estate located in Panzano, a district of Greve in Chianti, covering around 60 hectares. Of these, 30 hectares are vineyards dedicated to Chianti Classico production, 3 hectares are olive groves, and the remaining land is woodland. The estate lies in the Conca d’Oro, one of the most renowned areas for the quality and distinctive character of Chianti Classico wine, benefiting from a favourable microclimate that supports naturally resilient vineyards and olive trees with a unique aromatic profile.

Founded in 1408, Cafaggio has passed through several owners over the centuries: originally belonging to the Benedictine monks of Siena and the Niccolini family of Florence, then transferred to the Florentine hospital Santa Maria Nuova. In the 19th century, it became the property of the Boddi family, and in the 1960s it was acquired by the Farkas family, who renovated the cellars and revived the vineyards and olive groves, establishing the estate on the international stage.

Since 2016, Cafaggio has intensified its quality focus across the entire production chain, adopting meticulous care. The estate is certified organic and produces vegan wines. Since 2025, it has been led by Alessandro Dal Bianco, who combines innovative approaches with the deep-rooted tradition and identity of Chianti Classico, maintaining Cafaggio as a hallmark of excellence in the Italian and international wine scene.
