Collard-Picard

Nestled in Villers-sous-Châtillon along the Vallée de la Marne, La Maison Collard-Picard was founded in 1996 by Olivier Collard and Caroline Picard. Olivier hails from a lineage of growers, grandson of the late René – arguably the greatest interpreter of Meunier and a pioneer of true natural practices in both vineyard and cellar. Caroline descends from a historic family of vignerons in the Côte des Blancs. Recently, their son Alexandre has joined the family venture. The maison embodies a contemporary take on Champagne, rooted in the region’s traditional techniques. Its cellar perches on a hillside overlooking the Vallée.

These wines never undergo malolactic fermentation, enhancing their freshness and aging potential. Collard-Picard Champagnes are celebrated for their deep terroir connection and the distinctive character of Meunier.

The magnificence of these Champagnes stems from the noble, authentic vineyards of the Vallée de la Marne, which channel the power and complexity of Pinot Noir and Meunier, alongside the prestigious terroir of the Côte des Blancs (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger), where Chardonnay reigns supreme. In true harmony with nature, Olivier and Alexandre gently guide its cycles through respectful, daily gestures.

The cellar’s philosophy is straightforward: honor and elevate the quality of the grapes and terroir. Only the first pressing (cuvée) is vinified with indigenous yeasts, sans malolactic, in large oak barrels – now joined by amphorae since the 2024 harvest. The Champagnes age extensively on lees and are always dosed extra-brut or brut nature. True to Caroline and Olivier’s values, quality remains the maison’s absolute pursuit.
