Tenuta di Arceno stretches out for over 1.000 ha in midst of the Chianti Classico hills, in the county of Castelnuovo Berardenga, close to Siena.
From its Etruscan roots, to the ownership by the Taja family, that handed it over to the most illustrious family of Siena, the Piccolomini, to its most recent acquisition by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke in 1994, the history of Tenuta di Arceno has been long and variegated.
The 90 ha of vineyards are located on rocky hills at an altitude of 300-450 m a.s.l. The climate is temperate and the soils composition, mainly clay, granite and basalt, allow good drainage and reflect the heat of the sun towards the vines. The winery has always promoted the cultivation of the most famous native varietal of Tuscany, Sangiovese, though experimenting also with varietals like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
